A-LIST Playlist Automation uses a simple, graphics-oriented drag-and-drop interface that makes list creation and management intuitive and fun.

The software and hardware are smoothly integrated in a powerful, cost-effective 'video appliance' designed to withstand the demands of 24/7/365 automated file playback.

The unique system design offers unmatched flexibility and simplicity by playing any combination of files and folders … with automatic looping of specified folder content when tight scheduling is not required.

The versatility and functionality of A-LIST is equally appropriate for broadcasters, Webcasters, government and educational entities, and digital information displays.

A-LIST Playlist Window

Our unique PLAYLIST TOOLS let you create and manage all aspects of your playlist - from Events to Breaks, to multiple types and layers of Overlays. Our Next Generation graphics engine allows simultaneous display of ALL layers over playback or live video without the need for additional hardware.

Automatic features can be enabled and disabled at will, and on a per-event basis. These include AUTO-BUG, AUTO-FILL, AUTO-LOOP, and automatic display of UP NEXT information.

We also provide full control over breaks, setting them to respond to DTMF, GPI/O, or Manual Triggers.

We offer a range of encoder solutions that accommodate every price point and functionality ... both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD).

PROGRAM STREAM encoders are generally used to create files for server playback.  TRANSPORT STREAM encoders are used to create single or multiplexed (MUXed) files to send (via ASI or SMPTE 310) to a digital transmitter for DTV broadcast.

ENCODING FILES

In general, you create digital files using three methods:
  1) copying from a videotape
  2) exporting a digital file from a non-linear editing system
  3) "capturing" a program from a satellite receiver

When copying a videotape, connect the video and audio outputs of the VCR to the corresponding inputs on the hardware encoder.

ENCODER OPTIONS

Depending on your selection from our available encoders, you can input composite, S-Video, component (Betacam), and HD/SD-SDI. Our simplest, most cost-effective MPEG-2 encoding package supports a single channel … and accepts composite or S-Video inputs. It also includes a scheduling utility for automatic and/or recurrent encoding sessions.

Some configurations include both encode and playback from the same hardware card, so you can input and encode a video signal and simultaneously monitor the output. With our DAYSHIFT software option you can "time-shift" (delay) the start of playback while the file is still encoding. Automated router control is an option.

Encoders can be configured as single or multi-channel in most of the input configurations.

FILE FORMATS

We currently offer four (4) different types of real-time hardware encoders, each with their own capabilities and functionality. The simplest models create MPEG-2 and WMV files ... while the more robust configurations capture and transcode a large number of file formats. These cards are also capable of real-time streaming while encoding - and even saving two file formats simultaneously.

TRANSPORT STREAMS (DTV)

Digital broadcasting requires an ASI or SMPTE 310 transport stream input to the transmitter. We worked closely with NTT Electronics in the development of the MPC-1010, an exceptionally high-quality transport stream encoder that features four independent input modules that support composite, SDI and HD-SDI input sources. The 2U chassis includes a multiplexer (MUX) and static PSIP generator. ASI and IP Inputs are available for an external PSIP data signal. The unit outputs ASI and SMPTE 310 simultaneously.

THE A-LIST SYSTEM INTEGRATES CONTROL OF MATRIX ROUTING SWITCHERS TO SELECT AND DISPLAY THE PROPER SOURCES FOR SCHEDULED EVENTS.

In our system configurations you can control a routing switcher that outputs directly to your transmitter, DTV encoder(s), or Internet streaming device … or to all of these simultaneously. The A-LIST automation software selects router sources such as playback cards, satellite receivers, and "LIVE" studios, for display at the time of scheduled events - or when DTMF tones are received.

In some configurations the routing switcher feeds directly into the RUSHWORKS Input/Output engine that functions as the 'pipeline' for all video being output to the various destinations. Graphic overlays can be added to the signal in real-time for "branding", animated "snypes" and other visual elements.

SOURCE MONITORING IS AVAILABLE WITH A VARIETY OF FORMATS AND PRICING.

LCD MONITORS

If your station runs mainly unattended, monitoring should be minimal.  You can purchase an adequate 13" color monitor from a variety of retailers for around $60.  However, monitoring is critical if your operation is more complex and requires personnel.

We provide several options for convenient rack mount LCD monitors.  Based on the system architecture we recommend, we'll propose the number and size of monitors that best suits your needs.

3 x 6"

2 x 8"

MULTIVIEWERS

A multiviewer is a device that displays multiple sources on a single LCD screen.  This can significantly reduce the space requirements, while providing a consolidated view of all your critical sources.  You can also use a projector instead of an LCD screen to display the output of the multiviewer.  Depending on the model selected, the sources will also display audio levels for each input.

USER INTERFACE MONITORS

Most systems ship with a 22" (minimum) LCD/LED screen for the A-LIST interface display, with a sparkling resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Our VDESK Meeting and Event Production System ships with a 21.5" TouchScreen monitor.
